A Near Thriller

Wolves of Hemp Street by Floyd Wooderson is a book for the uninitiated in Hemp–growing industry. It is a narrative that educates the reader about what the Hemp Industry is all about. The challenges it faces in terms of competition, weather conditions, saboteurs, and fly-by-night operators. The list is long, and among them, the most challenging is the perception of this industry. The growing of Hemp crops for medicinal purposes, textiles, and building material fades in comparison to its association with Cannabis and Marijuana consumed as an illegal drug. The industry struggled on many fronts, as competition influenced the U.S. regulators to impose many restrictions on its operations.

The author has chronicled the events well. It would make a good educative documentary for readers. The narrative on occasion suggested a thriller unfolding but all was well in the end.

The book did not set me on fire, but the author must be commended for maintaining a good pace in narrating the events in the book.

My recommendation is useful for those who want to make a career in the industry. It was useful for me because it gave me an insight into what entails to operate a hemp-related business.

A good knowledge-building exercise.
